I’m not sure what inspired this project. Of course, Will “The Thrill” Clark is my favorite baseball player of all time. I also had a pretty rambunctious 2.5 year old at the time. Having a “good behavior” wheel that he gets to spin for rewards seems like a logical result.

I started by getting a large piece of backing wood and a plywood round. I painted the backing (Giants colors) and stained the round. I then measured out the sections and doweled holes for the pegs. The pegs were glued into spot and I taped/painted the orange and black stripes to separate the reward sections.

I also doweled a hole for the stopper and put that in place on the backing. I created a large stencil for the “title” and carefully painted that on the backing with a few coats of white acrylic. I took a piece of my dad’s old baseball glove and a sterling silver baseball glove key chain to use as the “clicker” at the end of the stopper.

I then built the movable base out of some cut four by fours and plywood pieces. Once those were painted and stained, I added wheels and designed/laminated “reward slices” that were attached with Velcro circles (for future updating). The plywood round was attached to the backing with a Lazy Susan bearing. The entire wheel/backing section can be pulled out of the base for rewards on the go.

All in all, the boy loves it and it turned out great. Just don’t ask me to make you one.
